Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Woman learns about hubby’s affair, committs suicide

A 30-year-old woman committed suicide after finding out that husband had been cheating on her. The woman hanged herself at her residence in Hudkeshwar police station area when she was alone. 
The deceased has been identified as Jayashree Vikram Narnawre, a resident of Lane No. 6, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Hudkeshwar. 
According to police, Jayashree and Vikram tied nuptial knot in year 2014. Vikram have a shop in Ajni area. The woman learnt about Vikram’s extra marital affair on Thursday after checking his mobile phone. She decided to teach him lesson by ending her life. The woman committed suicide after Vikram went to office on Friday morning. Hudkeshwar police have registered a case of accidental death. A police officer informed that an offence under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code would be registered against the husband for abetting wife to committ suicide.

Two killed in separate mishaps in MIDC and Gittikhadan areas

Two persons were killed in city in separate road mishaps in MIDC and Gittikhadan police station area.
In the first case, 75-year-old man was knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle in MIDC area on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Dadarao Champatrao Kolhe (75), a resident of Wanadongri. According to police, the accident occurred at 7.45 pm when Kolhe was walking towards home. An unidentified two-wheeler came behind in a great speed and hit Kolhe from behind near Tata Motors Service Centre. Sustaining multiple injuries, Kolhe died on the spot. However, the biker sped away from the spot after the accident. MIDC police have registered the case under Sections 279, 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code read with Sections 134 and 177 of MVA. The police have launched hunt to identify the biker.
In another case, a 22-year-old youth was killed when his motorcycle skidded near HP Petrol Pump in Gittikhadan area. The youth had gone to a birthday party. The accident occurred when he was on way to home, police said.  
The deceased has been identified as Bhagwatiprasad Bachhelal Gupta (22), a resident of Taj Nagar, Ring Road, Mankapur. According to police, the accident occurred at 12.30 am on Wednesday. While passing through Gittikhadan area, Gupta’s bike skidded and he fell on the road. He was seriously injured in the accident. Passersby rushed him to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Gittikhadan police have registered a case of accident death. 
Sunil Gangurde, Police Inspector, informed that reason behind the accident was yet to ascertain. “We are inquiring where the accident was occured due to potholes,” he said.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
