A Village Burnt Overnight: Tears, Loss and Survival in Dhamangaon Blaze

  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Mumbai youth drowns in Ambazari lake

A picnic party turned into tragedy when a youth drowned in Ambazari lake while swimming on Sunday morning. The youth is native of Mumbai and was an executive at Ascent Business Solutions at IT Park.
The deceased has been identified as Anand Rajesh Dwivedi (23), a resident of Matunga, Mumbai. According to police, Anand was staying at a rented accommodation near Sambhaji Chowk in Pratap Nagar area. He got the job in the company only about two and a half months ago. Anand along with co-workers Harshal Gedam, Atul Namdev, Aditya Hedau and two others had gone to Ambazari lake for picnic in the morning hours. The youths had no plan of swimming before reaching the lake. After seeing people swimming in the lake, some of the youths decided to swim. 
Harshal and Anand ventured into the waters. But Anand did not did not come up after diving into the lake. This panicked the youths and other swimmers. They started searching for Anand, but he was not found. Meanwhile, the police control room was informed about the incident. Staff of Ambazari police station rushed to the spot with the staff of Fire Brigade. The body was fished out in the evening. Anand’s brother Akash, mother and relatives reached the city late night. Ambazari police have registered a case of accidental death.

Beltarodi cops arrest two burglars, recovers valuables worth Rs 5.30 lakh 

Beltarodi police have arrested two youths for committing house-breaking thefts and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 5.30 lakh from their possession. 
The accused have been identified as Sammet Santosh Dabhne (19), and Rahul Krishna Gadekar (19), both residents of Subhash Nagar, Rana Pratap Nagar. According to police, the accused had committed theft at the house Nanda Rajendrasingh Raghuwanshi (60), at Plot No. 71, Nagarvikas Society, Manish Nagar on September 12. 
Acting on a tip-off, the accused were arrested by the police from Subhash Nagar t-point on Saturday. A police officer said that the accused were committing the thefts by breaking-open latch of door with screw drivers and iron rod. The youths were involved in two burglaries. The cops have recovered an Activa moped used for the crime and stolen gold ornaments. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone IV Nirmala Devi, the arrest was made by Police Inspector Vijay Talware, API G P Raut and staff including Randhir Dixit, Vijay Shriwas, Gopal Deshmukh, Nitin Bawne, Kunal Landge, Prashant Sathawane, Dipak Tarhekar, Avinash, Prashant, Rajendra, Kamlesh and others.
