Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Jilted lover stabbed girl in Laxmi Nagar, girl’s condition serious

A teenage girl was brutally stabbed by a jilted lover at office of her uncle in Laxmi Nagar on Sunday night when she refused to continue their relationship. The girl is reportedly battling for life at Orange City Hospital due to severe bleeding, said Bajaj Nagar police. 
Accused Rohit Hemnani (21), a resident of Sindhi Colony, Khamla was knowing the girl - Sanika Pradip Thugaonkar (18), a resident of Saraswati Vinayak Apartment, Laxmi Nagar - since two years. They were close friends but the girl recently started ignoring him. A police officer informed that Sanika was living at her uncle’s (Mama) -- Avinash Patne -- home since childhood. House of Patne family situated at Opposite of Hotel Ashoka near Aath Rasta Chowk. The family living at first floor while Avinash’s office situated on ground floor near SBI’s ATM. 
Accused Hemnani came to Patne house at 8 pm and inquired about Sanika. After seeing Hemnani Sanika refused to speak to him. However, Hemnani was repeatedly asking her to meet. Avinash immediately intervened and asked Hemanani that she would not talk to him. Meanwhile, Avinash came to his office, where the accused again pleaded to meet the girl for five minutes. 
Avinash’s wife Sarika too arrived at the office and refused for meeting with the girl. Meanwhile, Sanika came to the office then Avinash allowed them to speak. During a discussion with Sanika for around five minutes, Hemnani was trying to convince her to continue the friendship but Sanika turned down his advances and asked to leave the place. Avinash too asked him to leave the place. He had brought a dragger with him. Hemnani rose to move out and whipped out the dragger and attacked Sanika. Avinash caugth hold his hand. He received an injury on his palm. But the accused succeeded in stabbing the girl on chest and back and fled the spot leaving the girl in pool of blood. The police have recovered the dragger from the office and its cover from parking area. 
Panicked Avinash and his relatives rushed severely bleeding Sanika to Sanjeevani Hospital and later shifted to Orange City Hospital. According to doctors, the girl received multiple grievous stab wounds over lower back near kidney,  chest and foot.
Staff of Bajaj Nagar police station arrived at the spot and registered a case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code.  The police have launched hunt for arrest of the accused. 
The incident left residents of Laxmi Nagar area in panic as the teenage girl was stabbed in front of her relatives. The cops are also checking CCTV footage of SBI ATM for evidence.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
