Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. 3 murders within 24 hours rock city

Three persons were murdered in separate incidents in less than 24 hours in the city.
In the first incident, a juvenile brutally murdered his friend when he refused to share the food with him. The murder took place near Telephone Exchange square in Lakadganj Police Station area in the wee hours of Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shubham Bhimrao Wasnik (22), a resident of Sweeper Colony. 
A police officer informed that Shubham and Pankaj (name changed) were close friends. Shubham took Pankaj to his place on Friday at 11 pm where Shubham had dinner. Pankaj got angered when Shubham did not shared food with him. He then returned his home and decided to teach a lesson to Shubham for the insult. 
He met Shubham on Saturday late night and took him at an isolated place near Telephone Exchange Square where he stabbed Shubham on his stomach with sharp-weapon. When Shubham collapsed on the ground, the juvenile fled the spot. Police said that Shubham breathed his last on the spot due to heavy blood loss. 
Lakadganj police have registered the case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code and sent the juvenile to correction home. 
In another incident, unidentified person stabbed to death Chandan alias Kalu Rajkumar Sharma (22) at his house in Bhandewadi Pardi area of Kalamna Police Station. 
According to police, the accused stabbed Chandan on his neck, head and stomach in the wee hours of Sunday.  As Chandan was alone at his house at Plot No. 4, Grihlaxmi Nagar, Bhandewadi Pardi, neighbours noticed the body on Sunday morning. He was lying in the pool of blood. Kalamna police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered the case under Sections 302 of IPC. 

Youth murdered at Golibar Chowk 

A 21-year-old youth was hacked to death by five assailants over old-rivalry at Golibar Chowk in Tehsil Police Station area on Sunday night. 
The deceased has been identified as Ankit Ramu Dhakate (21), a resident near Bagalcha Akhada, Pachpaoli, accused are - Roshan Chichghare, Ankush Chichghare and Sachin Chichghare, Nitin Nimje and Rahul Maundekar, all are residents of Pachpaoli area.  
According to police, the assailants attacked Ankit with wooden raft and sharp-weapons and fled the spot. Profusely bleeding Ankit was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A police officer informed that the attack was fall out of old-rivalry. Ankit had attacked Ankush last month during a quarrel after which Ankush decided to eliminate him. Tehsil police have registered the case under Sections 302 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
