Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Jaripatka cops registers murder in Transporter Bobby Sardar’s death case

Mystery has deepened in the death case of transporter Bhupendra Singh Manjit Singh Makan alias Bobby Sardar (46) as advance post-mortem report remained inconclusive. Yet, Jaripatka Police have registered a case of murder.

Bobby's body was found on Sunday morning under jurisdiction of Kondhali police station. As it is suspected that crime started from city precincts, a case of murder was registered here on the basis of complaint given by his wife Parminder (49). 
The investiators were banking on some leads from preliminary autopsy to move ahead with investigations. However, doctor’s report of no external or internal injury found on the body has put police in fix. 
Another murder theory is that the assailants might have poisoned Bobby on Thursday night and then threw the body in the nullah so that no one could easily trace it. So the doctors have collected viscera  to ascertain the cause of death in cases where post-mortem is inconclusive. Viscera are human tissues and sample of body wash collected from stomach that are examined in forensic laboratory. 
Senior police officials informed The Hitavada that the case was being investigated on various angles including property dispute, betting disputes, money laundering, old rivalry and extra-marital affairs. Crime Branch and Jaripatka police are parallely investigating the case and the culprits would be behind the bars within next 48 hours, the official further claimed. 
Sources informed that the Kondhali Police would submit papers including preliminary finding of post-mortem to the Jaripatka police. A team of City Police on Monday visited the spot where body of Bobby Sardar was found on Sunday. The cops have also identified CCTV camera locations for recovery of video footages. 
Investigation revealed that Bobby left his office on Thursday night and therefore disappeared. The family members approached Jaripatka Police and lodged a missing complaint. An Innova car of Bobby was recovered from Mangalwari Bazaar area on Saturday.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
