IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. He uncovered a state-wide kidney transplant racket in Akola and, as DCP in Nagpur, dismantled organized crime syndicates through MCOCA and MPDA cases. Youth attempt to murder stepmother

A youth attempt to murder stepmother over property issue in Jaripatka area on Friday. The victim is Pramila Manohar Patil (45), a resident of Plot No. 15, Sushila lay-out while accused has been identified as Ravi Manohar Patil (30), a resident of Indora Model Town.
 The police said, Ravi encroached upon land plot of Sushila at Nazool lay-out. When Pramila asked Ravi to remove the encroachment, the accused attacked her with iron road. Pramila sustained grievous injuries in the attack and admitted at hospital. The Jaripatka police have registered the case under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha. It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza.
