Nagpur Traffic Police on Saturday kick-start execution of ‘no parking zone’ notification that created 18 no parking zones and specified three lanes for one way traffic movement in Dhantoli area of city. Teams of Traffic Police with a force of two senior officers, 50 constabulary, an Warning Van, a Pickup Van, a Jammer Van and Anti-rikshaw squad regulated parking and vehicular traffic in the area. Impact of the drive was visible and there were very few instances of traffic jam. Interestingly, parking slots of hospitals, who were not allowing parking in their premises, were full of vehicles and roads were free from parking chaos.
Jayesh Bhandarkar, Police Inspector (PI), Traffic Control Branch informed The Hitavada that the drive was being implemented slowly as the people are not aware about the notification. “We are informing the residents about the ‘no parking zones’ and receiving good response. The residents are happy and commenting that the traffic chaos would be controlled trough the drive,” he said. However, some shopkeepers are not happy and told the police that their customers could be affected by the drive as parking would not be allowed behind their shops.
