The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Jaripatka Police have solved house-breaking theft worth Rs 10.19 lakh and arrested two youths from Yashodhara Nagar area. The accused had stolen the cash from house of Mangalgiri Chandrashekhar Bhupatidas (57) at DG-1, Amar Vihar Colony, Kamptee Road.
The accused have been identified as Faizal alias Rinku Jamil Sheikh (28), a resident of Vajpayee Nagar and Iqbal Abdul alias Akhsar Abdul Khalil (38), a resident of Uppalwadi area of Yashodhara Nagar.
The accused committed the theft between May 6 and 23 when Bhupatidas had gone to United States to meet her daughter. During investigation, the cops received a tip about the accused. The cops nabbed the accused from their house and took to the police station. The accused spilled the beans during interrogation and confessed for the crime. The cops have recovered stolen booty worth Rs 6.41 lakh so far.
The arrest was made by Senior Police Inspector, Jaripatka, Uttam Mulak and staff including Rajesh Singh Thakur, Chintaman Dakhole, Prakash Nagpure, Bhimrao Bambal, Gajanan Mahulkar and Ravindra Bhangale.
