Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. What remained was a blackened debris all around - almost nothing to suggest a home once stood there. Nikesh earns his living as an agricultural labourer, like many in the village. Sleuths of Crime Branch arrested two persons involved in dacoity case. The accused along with four others including a girl looted an Amravati resident professor of gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 1 lakh on June 8 in Jaripatka area. The arrested accused are identified as Ashish Mohan Panchabhai (29) and Amol Anand Ingale (23), both are residents of New Yerekheda, New Kamptee while absconding accused are -- Tanvir Hussain (25), Sheikh Akram Sheikh Sadiq (26), both are resident of a resident of New Yerekheda, New Kamptee; Alim alias Akbar Kalim Sheikh (35), a resident of Taj Nagar, Mankapur and Kajal Shahu (23).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Crime, Sambhaji Kadam informed that after arriving at Nagpur, Tripathi forgot road of Ayodhya Nagar and drove towards Teka Naka area where he met Tanvir and Kajal who told him that they were also going to Ayodhya Nagar. The couple boarded in the car and took Tripathi to a room in Jaripatka area where other accused kicked and punched Tripathi and threatened him for life by showing sharp-edged weapon.
When Tripathi surrendered all his belongings including gold chain worth Rs 20,000, Debit card, the accused fled the spot. The dacoits withdrawn Rs 40,000 cash from an ATM using Tripathi’s Debit card.
As the room was rented by the Tanvir, the cops established identity of the accused and arrested Panchabhai and Ingale. However, a section of police officers does not believe story of the complainant. “The complaint arrived in the city to meet the girl and later robbed by her accomplices. It was planned dacoity and such gangs are active in the city and robbing citizens,” said a police officer. The girl first befriend with a ‘target’ on social networking site and later ask him to come to meet her at pre-decided spot.
The accused have been booked under Sections 395 and 342 of Indian Penal Code. Under the supervision of DCP Kadam and ACP Somnath Waghchaure, the arrest was made by API V A Saggne and staff including Rajesh Yadav, Namdeo, Ritesh, Ravi, Arun, Devendra, Harish, Naved, APIs Vishal Mane, Prashant Bharte, Rahul and Harish.
