Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Sensation prevailed in Kamptee town after three youngsters armed with sharp-edged weapons and rod entered in the house of a 22-year-old youth and attempt to murder him in New Khalashi Line area of Old Kamptee Police Station on Monday afternoon.
The accused have been identified as Vishal Durwas Khobragade (21), Hirinash alias Chhotu Kishor Tirpude (22) and Ashwin Balwant Bahadure (23), all are residents of New Khalashi Line, Kamptee. According to police, the incident occurred at 3.30 pm when Harshal Yashvant Borkar (22) was in the house. The accused entered the house and caught hold Harshal who was sitting on the chair and stabbed him with sharp-edged weapon. The accused also hits a iron rod on his head and fled the spot. Injured Harshal was admitted at the hospital and his condition is reportedly critical.
A police officer informed that the attack was fall out of old rivalry between the youngsters and Harshal. An altercation was reportedly took place between the accused and the victim last week, the officer said. Old Kamptee police have registered the case under Sections 307, 324, 452 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
