Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Commissioner of Police Dr. K. Venkatesham on Saturday asked newly joined Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to maintain quality of work and set a new benchmark of policing.
Addressing send-off programme at CP Office, the Police Commissioner thanked the ongoing DCPs for working hard and bringing crime graph under control. Joint Commissioner of Police (Joint CP) Shivajirao Bodkhe, DCP Ranjan Kumar Shrama, Dipali Masirkar, Abhinash Kumar, Ravindrasingh Pardeshi, Sambhaji Kadam along with newly joined S. Chaitany, Nilesh Bharne and others were present on the dais.
“The DCPs have maintained competitiveness and passion and hope that the new officer would follow the same with enthusiasm,” the CP said.
DCP Ranjan Kumar Sharma said that he learnt many aspects of policing while working in the Nagpur and it would help him during career. DCP Maskirkar claimed that it was her dream to work in Nagpur as she belongs to Chandrapur.
Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar compared the programme while DCP Kadam proposed vote of thanks. PI Narendra Hiwre, Hemantkumar Kharabe and Ashok Bagul also praised the officers during their welcome speech.
