Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. City Police’s Zone-V: Crime on decline, attempt to murder and thefts cases are on rise

In year 2016, the Zone have recorded 2,163 crime cases as against 2,196 cases in year 2015 and 1,995 in year 2014. Total 1,447 detected by the cops in year 2016 with 69 per cent while detection rate was 67% in year 2015 and 65.56 per cent in year 2014. The Zone was formed in May 2016 and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhinash was in-charge of the Zone. 





The Zone accounted for 22.05 per cent crime cases of Nagpur City in year 2016. The Zone is notorious for crime as many history-sheeter goons are living in the area. The Zone initiated massive 2,342 preventive action which seven per cent more than previous year. Twelve MPDA proposals were sent by the Zone and five gangs were booked under stringent MCOCA in year 2016. Jaripatka Police Station have initiated maximum preventive action -- 820  and recorded maximum crime -- 779 in year 2016. Crime chart of Kalamna Police Station was 422 followed by 320 in Yashodhara Nagar, 272 in Koradi, 227 in Kamptee and 143 in Old Kamptee Police Station.

Seventeen murders reported in the Zone and cops have managed to detect 16 of them. In year 2015, the Zone had recorded 21 murders and 40 murders in year 2014. Jaripatka Police Station topped the tally of murders with six murders followed by four in Kamptee, two each in Yashodhara and Kalamna and one at Old Kamptee Police Station. 
Attempt to murder cases are on rise in the Zone as it recorded 21 cases as against 16 in year 2015. Again, Jaripatka Police Station have recorded maximum -- eight -- attempt to murder cases followed by four each in Yashodhara Nagar and Kalamna; two each in Kamptee and Old Kamptee and one at Koradi Police Station. 






Chain Snatchings seems to have abated in the Zone. As against 15 chain snatchings in year 2015, the Zone reported 13 in year 2016. Robberies also showed a decline in the Zone as it recorded 38 in year 2016 as against 56 in year 2015. 
As far as thefts cases are concerned, the top brass needs to pay utmost importance here as the graph is soaring with 14 per cent rise. The Zone recorded 495 theft cases in year 2015 and it rose to 571 in year 2016 with just 37 per cent detection rate. Maximum -- 225 -- thefts took placed in Jaripatka police station while 106 in Kalamna Police Station. 
Overall, the Zone needs to pay more attention towards detection of property crime which is concerned with common man.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
