28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Power employees to go on mass casual leave

Employees of MSEDCL, MSETCL and MahaGenco will be on “mass casual leave” on April 12 for demand of pension, Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation announced on Monday. 

The power employees protested many times for the demand and Government had also taken a decision in cabinet meeting in year 2008, however, the decision was not implement since last eight years. Office-bearers of the federation met minister for energy Chandrashekhar Bawankule and minister for finance Sudhir Mungantiwar during winter session and submitted a memorandum. A committee was formed on December 19, 2015 and Director Anurag Bhatiya is heading the committee since last 14 months. As the committee has not taken any decision, the federation has decided to call for mass causal leave strike. Mohan Sharma of Workers Federation has given notice of strike to the companies.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
