IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. A girl candidate thought of a novel way to pass the police recruitment process of Government Railway Police (GRP)! Falling a little short on height, the girl applied ‘Mehandi’ on hairs to meet the desired height of 155 cms during the selection process at Nagpur.
The ‘noval way’ came to fore at GRP Nagpur Headquarters during recruitment drive when an onduty lady constable find hairs of the little different. After checking properly, she noticed that the girl had applied ‘Mehandi’ to meet desired height of the selection process.
Superintendent of Police (SP) GRP, Nagpur Sahebrao Patil informed the reporters on Wednesday during a press conference. It may be mentioned that a youth had donned a hair wig during recruitment drive of Nashik police last week.
SP Patil further said that physical test of 5,788 candidates concluded on Tuesday and written test will be conducted on April 15. Those, who will pass the written test, will be called for the medical test and then merit list will be announced, the SP informed.
On the issue of Rail Roko agitation announced by the Vidarbha Jan-Andolan Samiti, the SP said that the GRP is ready to counter the agitation. “We have activated informers and fixed potions have been identified where force will be deployed in large number,” he said. Additional teams of Quick Response Team (QRT) will also be deployed during the agitation. Additional SP Uttam Rathod, Police Inspector Abhay Panhekar were present in the press conference.
