  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. What remained was a blackened debris all around - almost nothing to suggest a home once stood there. Nikesh earns his living as an agricultural labourer, like many in the village. Girl applies ‘Mehandi’ to pass police recruitment drive

A girl candidate thought of a novel way to pass the police recruitment process of Government Railway Police (GRP)! Falling a little short on height, the girl applied ‘Mehandi’ on hairs to meet the desired height of 155 cms during the selection process at Nagpur.

The ‘noval way’ came to fore at GRP Nagpur Headquarters during recruitment drive when an onduty lady constable find hairs of the little different. After checking properly, she noticed that the girl had applied ‘Mehandi’ to meet desired height of the selection process. 

Superintendent of Police (SP) GRP, Nagpur Sahebrao Patil informed the reporters on Wednesday during a press conference. It may be mentioned that a youth had donned a hair wig during recruitment drive of Nashik police last week. 

SP Patil further said that physical test of 5,788 candidates concluded on Tuesday and written test will be conducted on April 15. Those, who will pass the written test, will be called for the medical test and then merit list will be announced, the SP informed. 
On the issue of Rail Roko agitation announced by the Vidarbha Jan-Andolan Samiti, the SP said that the GRP is ready to counter the agitation. “We have activated informers and fixed potions have been identified where force will be deployed in large number,” he said. Additional teams of Quick Response Team (QRT) will also be deployed during the agitation. Additional SP Uttam Rathod, Police Inspector Abhay Panhekar were present in the press conference.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
