28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Upset over death of daugther, man attempt to murder Dr Khalatkar

A middle-aged man attempt to murder Dr. Vasant Khalatkar at Sakkardara square on Thursday afternoon. “Karishma Manjre, daughter of attacker Arun Manjre (55) was suffering from Dengue and died in the Dr. Khalatkar’s hospital during treatment six months ago. Death of Karishma left Arun dejected and angry as well. 

He suspected Dr. Khalatkar responsible for the death and attacked him,” said A. T. Nerlekar, Senior Police Inspector of Sakkardara Police Station. According to information, Manjre was hiding near the hospital. When the arrived near his car, Manjre came behind and hit an iron rod on his head. He also took out a spear to attack the doctor. However, the doctor’s driver overpowered Manjre. Within a minute, onlookers gathered at the spot and caught hold of Manjre. Staff of Sakkardara Police Station arrived at the spot and took furious Manjre to police station. 
The cops have booked Manjre under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code. PI Nerlekar further informed that Manjre was upset after the death of his daughter. Manjre is cloth trader by profession and has two sons. Karishma was his only daughter. Sakkardara Vyapari Sangh President Narendra Satija condemned the attack on Dr. Khalatkar.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
