IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. He uncovered a state-wide kidney transplant racket in Akola and, as DCP in Nagpur, dismantled organized crime syndicates through MCOCA and MPDA cases. Upset over death of daugther, man attempt to murder Dr Khalatkar

A middle-aged man attempt to murder Dr. Vasant Khalatkar at Sakkardara square on Thursday afternoon. “Karishma Manjre, daughter of attacker Arun Manjre (55) was suffering from Dengue and died in the Dr. Khalatkar’s hospital during treatment six months ago. Death of Karishma left Arun dejected and angry as well. 

He suspected Dr. Khalatkar responsible for the death and attacked him,” said A. T. Nerlekar, Senior Police Inspector of Sakkardara Police Station. According to information, Manjre was hiding near the hospital. When the arrived near his car, Manjre came behind and hit an iron rod on his head. He also took out a spear to attack the doctor. However, the doctor’s driver overpowered Manjre. Within a minute, onlookers gathered at the spot and caught hold of Manjre. Staff of Sakkardara Police Station arrived at the spot and took furious Manjre to police station. 
The cops have booked Manjre under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code. PI Nerlekar further informed that Manjre was upset after the death of his daughter. Manjre is cloth trader by profession and has two sons. Karishma was his only daughter. Sakkardara Vyapari Sangh President Narendra Satija condemned the attack on Dr. Khalatkar.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora.
