Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. A middle-aged man attempt to murder Dr. Vasant Khalatkar at Sakkardara square on Thursday afternoon. “Karishma Manjre, daughter of attacker Arun Manjre (55) was suffering from Dengue and died in the Dr. Khalatkar’s hospital during treatment six months ago. Death of Karishma left Arun dejected and angry as well.
He suspected Dr. Khalatkar responsible for the death and attacked him,” said A. T. Nerlekar, Senior Police Inspector of Sakkardara Police Station. According to information, Manjre was hiding near the hospital. When the arrived near his car, Manjre came behind and hit an iron rod on his head. He also took out a spear to attack the doctor. However, the doctor’s driver overpowered Manjre. Within a minute, onlookers gathered at the spot and caught hold of Manjre. Staff of Sakkardara Police Station arrived at the spot and took furious Manjre to police station.
The cops have booked Manjre under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code. PI Nerlekar further informed that Manjre was upset after the death of his daughter. Manjre is cloth trader by profession and has two sons. Karishma was his only daughter. Sakkardara Vyapari Sangh President Narendra Satija condemned the attack on Dr. Khalatkar.
