With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities. Hudkeshwar Police have booked Tribal Development Project Officer, Nagpur and President of Bhandara-based Dnyandeep Bahuddeshiya Shikshan Sanstha in scholorship scam. Both accused admitted a stundent -- Devram Maraskolhe -- in Vivekananda College by forging documents and grabbed his scholoroship worth Rs 22,000. When Maraskolhe learnt about the fraud, he approached the police and registered a complaint.
The accused are identified as Bharat Pokalwar, president of Dnyandeep Bahuddeshiya Shikshan Sanstha, which runs Vivekanand College and Giri Sarode (48), Tribal Development Project Officer, Nagpur.
A senior police officer informed that accused Pokalwar and Sarode shown admission of Deveram Maraskolhe, a resident of Sadak Arjuni village in Vivekananda college and grabbed yearly scholorship issued by the government. The scholorship was credited in the bank account of Pokalwar. After learning about the fraud, Maraskolhe apporched the police and lodged a complaint. Hudkeshwar police have registered the case under Sections 409, 406, 420, 465, 468, 471, 120 (b). Further investigation is on.
