Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Traffic cops books 527 offenders for drunken driving on new year

In the overnight drive during the new year, Traffic Control Branch booked 527 persons for drunken driving. The offenders were riding motorcycles after participating in new year revelry.
A senior officer of Traffic Police informed that the drive was implemented extensively across the city with the use of 20 breath analysers. Maximum offenders were booked close to midnight hours as the drive was continued till early morning. The cops also booked 11 persons for not wearing helmet, 39 for signal jumping, eight for illegal passenger transportation and 49 for rash driving.  Details of the offenders were linked to their Aadhar card. 

Chain Snatching at Sonegaon 


Two chain snatchers robbed a woman of her gold Mangalsutra worth Rs 50,000 in Sonegaon Police Station area on Saturday. 
According to police, Nilu Haribhau Girde (56), a resident of HB State, 251, Sonegaon was traveling to Shaker Nagar from Rajiv Nagar on moped along with husband and grandson at 4.30 pm. Two bike-borne robbers came behind and snatched away Manglsutra of Nilu Girde. Nilu and her husband stopped the moped and raised an alarm. However, the robbers managed to flee the spot. 
Sonegaon Police have registered the case under Sections 392 and 34 of IPC. Further investigation is on. 

Truck kills youth 

A speeding truck knocked dead a youth near Manish Nagar under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station on Saturday evening. According to police, the accident occurred at 5.30 pm when Rahul Ramesh Hiwse (25), a resident of Raghuji Nagar, near Gajanan temple was riding a moped. “Rahul was going to home from Manish Nagar. A truck (MH-31/CB-8117) came behind and hits the moped,” said Hudkeshwar police. Rahul sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. Profusely bleeding Rahul was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he succumbed to the injuries. Hudkeshwar police have registered the case under Section 304 (a) of IPC and 134 and 177 of MVA. Further investigation is on.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora.
