Chandra Kishore Mina Awarded President’s Police Medal

IGP Chandra Kishore Mina By Dheeraj Fartode Chandra Kishore Mina, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Currently serving as Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mina has held several important positions in Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. While serving as ASP in Gadchiroli, Mina led a successful anti-Naxal operation in 2009, which resulted in the Petha encounter, weakening the Naxal movement. This operation earned him the DG Insignia. As SP in Akola and Nanded, Mina used innovative methods to maintain communal harmony and resolve tensions effectively. He uncovered a state-wide kidney transplant racket in Akola and, as DCP in Nagpur, dismantled organized crime syndicates through MCOCA and MPDA cases. Nagpur police launches Bharosa Cell

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday launched ‘Bharosa Cell’ of Nagpur Police near IT park in Parsodi, Subhash Nagar. “The formation of Bharosa Cell is the need of the hour to address the problems of the victims (women and children). Such a cell would assist women in need through psychiatric help and legal advice,” said Fadnavis while addressing the gathering after the inauguration.

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highway and Shipping Nitin Gadkari, Guardian Minster Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh and Sudhakar Kohale, Mayor Pravin Datke, Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar, Commissioner of Police Dr. K. Venkatesham, Joint CP Santosh Rastogi, DCP Ranjan Kumar Sharma and others were present on the dais. 
Speaking further he said that nature of crime and violence in the society is changing due to increasing use of Information Technology by the criminals. To ensure that criminals do not go scot free police department should also use IT in its day to day working. Use of Information technology will help cops in delivering justice much faster. Cops should adopt changes in their working pattern and win the trust of common man. “There is a need of developing trust in the minds of people who approach police station with a hope of getting justice,” said the Chief Minister to all police officers. 
Appreciating efforts of Nagpur Police, the Chief Minister announced that ‘Bharosa Cells’ on the lines of Nagpur Police would be formed across the state in the major cities. Fadnavis also asked the senior police officers to focus on early prevention of crimes. “Cops should take proactive steps for early prevention of crime which is the need of hour. Policing has become much easier and laid stress on better use of CCTNS, Cyber police stations, CCTV and other cyber tools. 
Now, police stations would be formed with proper digitization so that the police would provide good services to citizens. Fadnavis also assured the gathering of proactive steps for housing for policemen. The Chief Minister formally registered a police complaint of a victim woman after inauguration. 
Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that fear of law is needed and it must visible in the city. Cops should try to mediate in the small matters and then apply law if there are no chances of resolve the dispute. Appreciating initiative, Gadkari praised ‘Bharosa Cell’ and predicted that the cell would provide immense help to women and children. 
The Bharosa cell will provide all facilities right from psychiatrist to legal consultant under one roof.  This is first initiative of Maharashtra Police to provide all facilities under one roof on the lines of Hyderabad Police. Bharosa Cell would be proactive and would comprise counsellors, psychiatrists, lawyers and police officers to help women in distress, including rape victims. Damini squad will also controlled from Bharosa Cell office. Four squads of the Damini Squads will continuously patrol the city to safeguard women.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora.
