Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. What remained was a blackened debris all around - almost nothing to suggest a home once stood there. Nikesh earns his living as an agricultural labourer, like many in the village. Work is uncertain and depends on the season. Those earrings weren’t just jewellery - they were a small dream, a reward for his hard work,...
- Jio customers facing call dropping, slow internet, network dropping and call congestion issues since the network was launched
Recent reports suggest that Reliance Jio will extend the offer for even
more time. Ever since its launch Reliance Jio has been offering its services
completely free as part of its Welcome Offer to test out the network and this
offer was supposed to end on December 31, 2016, but the company management have
decided to extend the offer for three months.

Sources close to Reliance Jio management informed that Jio management is
not fully satisfied with the quality of service. Many customers are facing call
dropping, slow internet, network dropping and call congestion issues since the
network was launched. Despite of taking efforts, the issues are not yet solved.
Hence, the management do not wants to commercially launch the network cause it
would be a jolt for the company as millions of customers could stop using
services of jio.
Analysts are now suggesting that Jio will extend its Welcome Offer until
March 2017; an additional three months.
Jio has already launched attacks against existing leading operators for
not providing enough points of interconnect – which allow users from one
network to speak to users on the other networks. Jio Chairman, Mukesh Ambani
described the situation as “the newbie being ragged by the big boys”.
It just got a green signal from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
(Trai) for it’s free-calls-for-life plans.
According to a Jio spokesperson, Jio Welcome Offer or JWO -- benefits of
free unlimited Voice and data -- will be available to all subscribers up to
December 31, 2016. The question is whether Trai will allow this to happen or now – we should
know more on this soon.
