Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. City police books 21 Dabba traders, 11 arrested

Economic Offences Wing (EoW) on Friday registered eight offences at Lakadganj and Tehsil Police Stations against 21 Dabba traders and their associates following raids across the city on Thursday. The cops have arrested 13 Dabba traders in this connection however eight Dabba traders including Kingpin Ravi Agrawal, proprietor of L7 group is still at large. The arrested accused were produced in the court and the court have granted three days police custody. 
Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP EoW) Deepali Masirkar informed that it could be major jolt for the illegal Dabba trading racket as this is first major combine raids against Dabba trading operators in the India. The Dabba traders have connections across the country. They are trading in shares, commodities and foreign exchange across the country and their turn-over is whopping Rs three lakh crore per day. 
EoW officials informed that the Dabba traders were operating in city since last 10 years and lured youngsters of many business families.
The accused have been booked under Sections 406, 420, 467, 471, 477 (A) and 34 of Indian Penal Code read with sub-section 23 (a) of Securities Contract Regulation Act. 

Only five days trading 

The Dabba traders trades from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday are decided as final settlement days. After purchasing shares or commodities, the customer have to sold the share or commodities till Friday. The customer have to pay or receive money on Saturday and Sunday. EoW officials informed that the raids have freezed business of Dabba trading and coming Saturday and Sunday would create panick among the customers as they will not get their money. 

EoW’s line of action is ready 

DCP Masirkar told The Hitavada that the line of action of the EoW is to stronger the evidence against the accused and detect their money trail so that their entire business can be freezed.  The cops have seized many diaries, computers and laptops in which entries of the transactions are available. 

Code names for customers 

The Dabba traders have used code names of the customers during the trading so that they can hide identity of the customers. Sleuths of EoW would decode the names and start the action against the customers who have booked profit through the trading and cause huge losses to state exchequer.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
