Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. THREE radicalised youths from Hyderabd aspiring to join dreaded terror outfit Islamic State (IS) were nabbed in a joint operation by Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra and Telangana Police at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, here, while trying to board a Srinagar-bound flight in the wee hours of Saturday.
A team of Telangana Police took the three youths to Hyderabad to interrogate them to ascertain their links with terrorist organisations.
The youths are identified as Hasan Farooq Aiaz Wasim (21), a resident of Flat No 202, Muskan Hayat Apartment, Humayun Nagar, Hyderabad, Abdullah Basith Mohammed Arif (21), a resident of House No. 18-1-514/94, Naseeb Nagar Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad, and Sayyed Omar Farooq Hussaini Syed Azizullah Hussaini (22), a resident of House No. 18-1-350/22/2, Gulshan Iqbal Colony, Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad.
Hasan Farooq and Abdullah Basith are third year B.Tech students while Sayyed Omar is in B Sc final year.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Telangana Police along with Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Nagpur laid a trap at the airport. Between 3 am and 4 am, they nabbed the youths soon after they alighted from the cab. After taking the youths into custody, cops bundled them in a van and drove straight towards Hyderabad.
According to sources in Intelligence agencies, parents of the three students had lodged missing complaints at different police stations in Hyderabad. The youths were reported missing since Thursday. Telangana Police had a doubt that these youths might have left Hyderabad and planning to join the IS. Senior officials of Telangana Police then handed over the probe to their Counter-Intelligence Cell. Counter Intelligence officers swung into action and started electronic surveillance on the cellphones of the three youths. Investigators also examined their call data records (CDRs) and debit card transactions. The officers also came to know that they had booked air tickets to fly to Srinagar from Nagpur in Indigo flight. A police team from Telangana arrived here with the father of one of the youths and sought help of the ATS Nagpur. Subsequently, the team, along with ATS officers laid a trap at the airport early morning. As soon as the three youngsters got down at the airport, the cops nabbed them.
Initial inquiries revealed that three students allegedly had links with some Kashmiri terrorist organisation that has been assigned the task by IS recruiters to take them to Syria via Pakistan and Afghanistan. Officers investigating the case are also verifying their mail id to track down the IS recruiters.
Many young men from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were attracted towards IS. Around 15 engineering students, including a girl, from Hyderabad, were tracked down by the Telangana police in West Bengal in September last year. A techie was also nabbed by the Telangana Police in January his year.
