Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . Paswan was in city to attend meet of Dalit Sena workers at Pragati Hall. Interacting with mediapersons, Paswan said, RPI have lost its sheen due to its leaders. Buddhist and non-Buddhist Dalits are too divided in the state. RPI is become party of only scheduled caste people and members of other communities don’t want to join the party. “We have made Lok Janshakti Party as party of all sections of society and classes in Bihar state just like Mayawati did in Uttar Pradesh,” said Paswan.
At the same time, he once again raised the demand of reservation for Dalits in private sector and warned of stir. “Dalits needs reservation in Private sector as vary less number of jobs are available in the government sector,” Paswan claimed. On the issue of spate of rising atrocities against Dalits, Paswan said, Lok Janshakit Party will make efforts to strengthen Atrocity Act. Lok Janshakti Party and Dalit Sena will jointly conduct rally in Pune and then mega rally in Waransai at Uttar Pradesh, he said.
Supporing BJP led NDA government on the issue of Land Ordinance, Paswan said, the ordinance is the need of hour as land is the important factor in the development. “The government wants to boost infrastructure in the country and it cannot be done without land acquisition. The act have promised good compensation and government jobs to farmers, whose land would be acquired,” he said. National working president of Dalit Sena Suryamani Bhiwgade, State President of Lok Janshakti Party Shamim Hawa, General Secretery of Dalit Sena Anil Tayde, Madan Kuttarmare, Satish Lonare and Prashant Chordiya were present.
