Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Nitin Gadkari promises to make Nagpur pollution free

Terming balanced development of Vidarbha and other parts of the state as need of the hour, Union Surface Transport and Shipping minister Nitin Gadkari, on Friday, announced to brand Nagpur as a “pollution free city.” The city will soon have a fleet of green-bus which will run on ethanol, he declared. Union government have given approval for operation of Green Buses as pilot project at Nagpur city and sanctioned 1200 buses. This buses will reduce 90% emission of Carbon monoxide and will Star Buses operations in city limits soon, Gadkari stated.

The BJP-Shiv Sena government is paying equal attention to grievances of all regions of the state and balanced development would be accomplished in next five years, said Gadkari. 

Addressing a press conference at BJP office in Vidhan Bhavan premises,  Nitin Gadkari said that Nagpur Municipal Corporation will generate ethanol at Bhandewadi sewage treatment plant, and it will be used as fuel for operations of the Green Buses. There are three types of buses i.e. Buses run on electricity, ethanol and methane. Simultaneously, the Buses will be run at Pune, Satara and Kolhapur too, Gadkari added.

Replying to a query of pending railway project awaiting approval and funds from Union Railway Ministry, Nitin Gadkari said that he would meet Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for immediate approval. The upcoming Railway Budget will have more share for Maharashtra as Maharashtra is home state for the Railway minister too, Gadkari pointed out .

On the issue of cancellation of Local Body Tax (LBT), the Union Minister said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would decide about LBT. BJP-Shiv Sena government would take all efforts to solve common man’s problems. 

The government would ensure passengers and goods transportation through the waterways at Mumbai and Konkan region. The region has high capacity for waterways and Centre is keen to focus on transportation through waterways. There is only 0.3% transportation across the country through waterways however, neighboring China is reportedly doing 44% passengers and goods transportation through waterways. India has ample capacity by connecting rivers and sea hence, the Government is acting in this directions, Gadkari informed.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
