Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. CM asks Home Dept. disbursement of seized assets among investors of ponzy schemes

Asking Home Department to speed-up process of disbursement of seized properties of fraudsters among the gullible investors, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday reviewed law and order situation. On sidelines of winter session, Chief Minister first asked for details about ponzy schemes and their status and . When he learnt about settlement in many cases, Fadnavis asked then directed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Amitabh Ranjan and Director General of Police Sanjeev Dayal to co-ordinate with Revenue officials and ensure immediate disbursement of assets in cases which are now settled.

He asked Home Department to pursue appointment of Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) who is an officer of rank of Additional District Magistrate, and provide immediate relief to thousands of investors who are waiting for return of their basic investment. Chief Minister was addressing a special meeting of senior State police officials. The meeting was held at Ramgiri on Monday evening and besides ACS (Home) and DGP, Director General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ABC) Praveen Dixit, Home Secretary, Commissioners from Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur Police Commissionerates were present. Secretary to Chief Minister, Pravin Darade was also present.

DGP briefed Chief Minister about status of cases under Maharashtra Protection Of Interest Of Depositors (MPID) Act, in which courts have given directions to return the money of investors from seized properties of fraudsters. DGP further stated that since SEM are burdened with many charges the process gets delayed. Chief Minister then immediately directed the Special Executive Magistrate be appointed at the earliest and a police officer should liaison with them and they are to look after only the MPIDA case and provide relief to the gullible investors.

On the issue of Naxal menace in Maharashtra, the CM applauded Maharashtra Police’s performance saying the cops are doing a commendable job as compared to in neighbouring states. The meeting also reviewed installation of CCTV cameras in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur and directed the officials to fasten-up the process.

Suspend government officials on immediate effect

DGP (ACB) Pravin Dixit urged Chief Minister to immediately suspend the Government official after he or she is caught red-handed in bribe cases. Senior officials of Government Department tend to shield their juniors officials after ACB nabs them which is quite frustrating, he further said. The CM it is learnt to have issued order to comply with ACB's suggestion and further if it is not done the concerned Head of Department would be pulled-up.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
