Bhandara police on Friday cracked sensational Tumsar murder-dacoity case in barely 12 hours and detained six persons so far. Motive behind the murder was dacoity only and the accused had killed bullion trader’s family so as to hide their identity.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhandara Kailash Kanse told ‘The Hitavada’ that six persons are detained in the case and many more would be arrested soon. “We are on the right track,” he said. One of the accused Sohail, a resident of Tajbagh has been nabbed by Nagpur crime branch led by senior PI Madhav Giri and handed over to Bhandara police.
Informing the crime story, the SP said that Sanjay Chimanlal Soni used to sell gold ornaments in local areas of Gondia and Bhandara district. Sanjay along with his driver used to travel in the area in his car. He always took help of local drivers. The local driver, who were aware about Sanjay’s business, hatched a conspiracy to loot him.
On Wednesday, Sanjay hired a local driver as his driver was on leave. The driver immediately informed his associates of Nagpur and hatched plan to loot Sanjay.
After selling jewellery at Gondia district, the driver stopped the car at Birsi when he saw his accomplices were standing at roadside. The accused first looted jewellery from the car and then strangulated Sanjay. The accused then boarded the car and drove the car to Sanjay’s house.
The accused then forcibly entered the house and threatened Sanjay’s wife Poonam (43), son Drumil (12). After getting all jewellery in their custody, the accused brutally killed Poonam and Drumil to cover their identity.
SP Kanse informed that massive manhunt was launched after police got information about the dacoity. Maximum stolen valuables have been seized by the police, he added.
Sanjay, a resident of Ranpara village was son of Chimanlal Hiralal Soni, a well-known sarafa merchant. The brutal incident came to light on Thursday morning when a milkman found no response to doorbell. He immediately alerted wife of Sanjay’s younger brother. She also attempted to call them up on phone. When she got no response, she asked her daughter Aarchi (19) to go to Sanjay’s house to check. Aarchi was in shock after she saw Sanjay’s body lying on floor. She immediately called her parents. The police got information at 10.15 am.

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha
