Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Nine nominations for Nagpur, Ramtek LS seats rejected during scrutiny

  • Muslim League, TMC candidates failed to get past even scrutiny stage 
  • 45 forms accepted for Nagpur LS and 27 for Ramtek LS

As many as nine nominations for Nagpur Lok Sabha were rejected during the scrutiny on Monday and three in Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency. Most of the rejected nominations were filed by independent candidates and dummy candidates of political parties.
Addressing a press conference, District Returning Officer and Collector Abhishek Krishna informed that 84 nominations forms of 51 candidates were received. During scrutiny, nomination forms of six candidates were rejected as they did not fill the paper properly while 45 forms were properly filled and hence accepted. 
Nomination papers of Aslam Khan Rashid Khan of Indian Union of Muslim League, Uttam Janglu alias Baba Mendhe of Akhil Bharatiya Trinmul Congress, Archana Nilkanth Kadsait-Bagde of Aam Admi Party (AAP), Siddharth Asharam Kurve candidate of Dalit Panthar of India, Chandrashekhar Madhukar Ijmulwar of Maharashtra Besahara Party and independent candidate Dashrath Namdeo Shambharkar were rejected.
In Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency 45 nomination forms were filed by 30 candidates. During scrutiny, forms of Jitendra Tulsiram Mhaiswar, an alternate candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bhimrao Raghoji Nikose, an Independent candidate and Panchashila Anand Dhoke, an Independent candidate were rejected. 
Returning officer for Ramtek LS and Additional Collector Panjabrao Wankhede informed that forms of 27 candidates are accepted. The last date of withdrawl of nomination is March 26. 
He further informed a FIR has been lodged at Mauda police station for violation of model code of conduct. The district election commission swung into action after the commission received an information about launching of construction work of cement road on Monday. 

45,000 voters enrolled in special drive

According to District Collector Abhishek Krishna, 45,000 persons have submitted forms for enrolment in voters list during special drive, which was conducted on March 9. Final list will be published on Tuesday and the supplementary list will be attached to main list, Krishna informed.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
