With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) have seized Rs 48 lakh cash and property related documents collectively worth Rs 3 crore in searches at residence of Education Officer (Primary) Someshwar Netam. The search which started on Saturday evening continued till Sunday afternoon.
A senior officer of ACB told ‘The Hitavada’ that besides cash, Netam also possessed three plots, agriculture land at three places and 21 tola gold ornaments.
All valuables and documents have been seized by ACB and Netam was asked to disclose source of income from which these assets were purchased. If Netam fails to disclose sources, he will be booked under relevant provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Netam is set to retire on March 31 and directors and teachers of various educational institutions were in touch with Netam to get last minute approvals. ACB had kept a watch on Netam’s activities for past 15 days and noticed that many high-profile people associated with educational institutions met him at his house in morning hours. The searches were conducted after Court’s permission.
