Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. 6 dacoits loot Rs 39 lakh cash from courier office at Nagpur

In a day-light dacoity, six masked dacoits looted Rs 39 lakh cash from a courier office on the gun point at Anaaj Bazaar just 50 feet away from Police post of Lakadganj police station on Friday. The accused barged in the office and tied hands of workers and office owner with handcuffs and fled by stuffing the cash in four bags. Police said that the scared by dacoity, the office owner firsts close down shutter of the office, went to unknown place and then approached to the police station.

According to police, Santosh Kumar Patel along with four workers were counting money at Umesh Courier Service, at Anaaz Bazaar. The accused, who well aware about money present in the office, parked their vehicle 100 feets away from the office and entered at around 4.30 pm. They first threatened the Santosh and workers on the gun point and tied their hands with handcuffs. The dacoits stuffed all money in their four blacks bags. In search of more money, the accused also ransacked the office. When they did not get more, the dacoits fled away from the spot.
Owner of the courier office raise an alarm after 15 minutes. Neighbors arrived in the spot and opened handcuffs. Santosh went into after the dacoity. He asked the workers to leave for their home and himself went away to unknown place. After realising to lodge a police complaint, he went to police station and lodge a complaint. However, no police officer is ready to talk about the money was accountable or not.

Senior police officers including Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena, Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Shrikant Tarwade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-III) Sanjay Darade were rushed to the spot and taken review of the dacoity.

Ad CP Tarwade told ‘The Hitavada’ that the police have recovered CCTV footage of the dacoity and launched manhunt for arrest of the accused.
Lakadganj police have registered the case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code read with relevant sections of Indian Arms Act.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
