Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. A fight over payment of liquor bill claimed the life of a man as the angry waiter stabbed the former after his refusal. The incident was reported from village Paradsinga in jurisdiction of Katol police station and police said it occurred on Thursday.Cops have arrested accused Amir Ibrahim Pathan (24), a resident of Digras village, on charges of murdering Hari Upasrao Kolhe (44), a resident of Digras (B) village. According to police, Hari and his friends Chakradhar Madhukar Rithe and Namdeo Pote took liquor at the bar. They left the Bar without paying the bills to which the Manager objected and an argument ensued. Amir who had served them intervened and forced the men for bill amount. A scuffle broke out between Hari and Amir and later hit out at Hari with a wooden plank. Hari sustained grievous head injuries in the attack and died on the spot.
Katol police have registered the case under sections 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
