28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Train passangers create scene as AC malfunctions

Tryst of the rail travellers with hardships continues unabated. On Sunday, air conditioning equipment malfunctioned in yet another train leaving passengers high and dry. Also it was yet another testing time for Nagpur Division of Central Railway which again rose to occasion and came to rescue of helpless travellers.
Passengers of 12859 Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express faced trouble when air conditioning unit of one compartment stopped working. The problem was first reported at Nasik station and passenger asked Ticket Conductor to arrange for mechanic to attend the same. However railway officials promised to rectify the problem at next big station and pushed the train ahead. However passenger were now fuming with anger and they held-up departure of train at Shegaon and later also at Akola station.
According to sources the train left Nasik station at 9.30 pm with passengers of B-2 coach going without air conditioning equipment working. An employee of electrical department then boarded the train at Badnera station and the AC equipment was repaired in running by the time train neared Wardha station. After getting information about furious railway passengers, team of commercial department of Central Railway, Nagpur Division and Railway Protection Force (RPF) led by Assistant Commandant D Choubey, Inspectors R N Singh and Kalyan More was deployed at Nagpur station to prevent any untoward incident.
Kudos to Nagpur Division that made-up for loss of time in Bhusawal Division by giving clear path to Geetanjali Express from Badnera to Nagpur.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
