DCP spits and assaults accused in custody

The officer is accused of abusive and degrading behaviour, particularly targeting accused in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sources claim that the senior officer arrives at the police station and calls the accused into a separate room, where the officer not only hurls abuse at the accused but also spits at their face. Later, the officer allegedly kicks the accused in the private parts. In some incidents, when a couple approached a police station in Nagpur to file a complaint following a domestic dispute, the police sent a proposal for preventive action to the officer. However, instead of handling the matter professionally, the officer allegedly made the man sit down, then kicked him in the private parts and leave him in pain and humiliation. Howrah-Mumbai train route affected due to OHE breakdown

Major trains on Howrah-Mumbai-Howrah came to standstill on Friday evening for two hours.

Train movement on buisy Howrah-Mumbai-Howrah route was thrown out of gear after wire of over head equipment (OHE) broke down due to shot circuit between Tumsar-Tirodi section on Friday night. Six superfast trains were detained at respective stations following the incident.
An OHE, which is used to transmit electrical energy to trains at a distance from the energy supply point, got damaged between Tumsar-Tirodi section following a short circuit at 7.45 pm on Friday. 12859 Mumbai-Howrah Gitanjali express was running with its high speed when the incident occurred. Power supply for Howrah-Mumbai (Up line) and Mumbai-Howrah (Down line) was suspended and Gitanjali express stood stationery on the track. Loco pilot of the train relayed the information to operating control of SECR and the operating control swung into action. Operating control relayed information to all loco pilots of running trains between Gondia-Nagpur-Gondia stations and directed to stop at respective stations.
S L Verma, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of South East Central Railway (SECR) told ‘The Hitavada’ that staff of electrical department of SECR rushed to the spot and started operation. The DRM informed that train movement on Down line was resumed at 8.06 pm. However, movement on UP line was resumed at 10 pm as OHE of UP line was damaged more in the incident.
12834 Howrah-Ahemdabad express was worst affected after the incident and was running late by four hours. Movement of 12102 Howrah-Lokmany Tilak Jnaneswari super deluxe express, 12859 Mumbai-Howrah Gitanjali express, 12833 Ahebdabad-Howrah express were also affected after the incident.
According to DRM, the OHE was quite old and needs replacement. Following this incident, work to replace the OHE will be expedited and will be completed soon, he stated.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora
