  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. What remained was a blackened debris all around - almost nothing to suggest a home once stood there. Nikesh earns his living as an agricultural labourer, like many in the village. DGP of Maharashtra police booked in atrocity case

Dhantoli police have booked Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Maharashtra Government, Director General of Police (DGP), Maharashtra Police, and two other seniors officers in atrocity case. The complainant is Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Eastern Prison) Shashikant Shinde who had moved Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) alleging he was sidelines allegedly due to caste bias by the quartet.
A senior police officer told ‘The Hitavada’, JMFC court no. 2 had directed cops to register case against DGP and three others. However, the non-complainants challenged the complaint before Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court. The High Court refused to stay the decision but restrained Dhantoli police from taking any action against the applicants.
The sources said after receipt of High Court's order, the senior police officials held legal consultations. Based on the opinion, Dhantoli police on Tuesday formally registered offence against its own DGP, plus three others, including ACS (Home) Umeshchandra Sarangi, Principal Secretary (Home)and other officer.
In the complaint, Shinde alleged though he was eligible, still the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) overlooked his claim. However a review committee granted him promotion to the post of DIG (Prisons) in year 2010. Cops have registered the case under section 3, 1, 9, 10 and 4 of Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Caste Act.

UP ATS arrest a doctor from Yavatmal district under anti-conversion law

On 10-08-21 Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police arrested a doctor from Pusad town of Yavatmal district in connectin with a case registered at Gomti Nagar police station under anti-conversion law. It may be mentioned that three persons were arrested by UP ATS from Nagpur and Gadchiroli on July 17 in the same case. The accused person was identified as Dr. Faraz Shah Karamat Shah (27), a resident of Vasant Nagar, Pusad. A police official informed that Faraz was working with Shah Hospital at Pusad with his relatives after completing MBBS course from Government Medical College Akola in 2012. As per the records of Yavatmal police, Faraz was not a member of any organisation. The UP ATS had arrested some persons last month in Delhi and had claimed that a nation-wide racket of religious conversions was busted.
