The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. Nandanvan police have booked two parties involved in a land deal, after they came at loggerheads on Saturday over the issue of outstanding money.
In the first case, Shahzad Ahmed Shekji (33), a resident of Chandani Square, Hasanbag, entered into an agreement with Kalim Khan alias Tasleem Khan (50), Hasanbag, for selling his land in year 2006. The deal was struck for Rs. 1.21 crore and Khan demanded Rs. five lakh as brokerage. As Shekji was illiterate he signed on few stamp papers over which later a dispute arose.
On Saturday, Khan and his relatives stormed Shekji's residence and attacked him as the land sale got embroiled in controversy. The incident created quite a tension in the area. Police investigation later revealed that Khan only paid Rs. 70 lakh and for balance money the dispute got created.
Based on Shekji's complaint Nandanvan police booked Khan, Alim Khan Tasleem Kahn (42), Jamil Khan Tasleem Khan, Aman Ullha Khan (32), Sayyed Abra Sayyed Noor (34), Akim Khan under secs. 420, 143, 147, 149, 506 (b), of IPC read with sec. 7 of Criminal Law Amendment Act and arrested first five accused named in the FIR.
A peeved Khan later lodged a cross complaint with Nandanvan police accusing Shekji of trying to extort Rs 20 lakh. The complainant Kalim Khan alias Rasim Khan is a property dealer.
Accused are identified as Shamsher Ali Ramjan Ali (49), Sheikh Mehmood Sheikh Gabbar (43), Shahjad Ahmed Sheikh (33), Kaji Jiyauddin Jamauddin Sayyad (42), Sheikh Anwar Sheikh Kasam (35), all residents of Hasanbagh.
Accused are identified as Shamsher Ali Ramjan Ali (49), Sheikh Mehmood Sheikh Gabbar (43), Shahjad Ahmed Sheikh (33), Kaji Jiyauddin Jamauddin Sayyad (42), Sheikh Anwar Sheikh Kasam (35), all residents of Hasanbagh.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh as extortion money else threatened to kill him if the demand is not with. Nandanvan police have registered the case under sections 387, 452, 143, 147, 149 of IPC. Further investigations are on.
