Congress men's 'Virugiri' at Ram Jhula

Virugiri at Ram Jhula at Nagpur

Two Congress Party workers resorted to ‘Virugiri’ on Monday at Ram Jhula demanding early completion of  work of cable stayed bridge. High drama was witnessed when the two youth climbed atop the central pillar of the bridge near Santra Market RoB. This was around 2 pm and the stunt of these two youths was enough to cause traffic jam on the one of the most busy road stretch of city.

As the news reached police control room, senior officials took to spot. Maharashtra EGS Minister Dr Nitin Raut who was in city on learning about involvement of Congress Party workers himself went to spot for sorting out the matter. Commissioner of Police Dr Ankush Dhanvijay and District Collector Saurabh Rao too accompanied Raut to cool down the frayed tempers of the agitating youth.
The two youth were identified as Mohanish Jabalpure (28), residing near Chitra Talkies and Anupam Nimgade (26), a resident of Central Avenue. Of the two, Jabalpure is President of Vimukta Jati, Janjati Cell of Nagpur City Congress Committee.
It is learnt that the two reached the pillar by climbing the fifty feet high tower crane deployed by M/s  Afcons Ltd., the contractors for Ram Jhula. The tower is around 100 feet height, but the two agitating youth could not inch beyond middle of the tower and sat atop the podium. They flashed a banner demanding immediate completion of the stalled work of Ram Jhula and other bridges in Vidarbha region.

After getting the information staff of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and tried to cajole two youth in giving up their agitation. As both youths were workers of Congress Party, City Chief of Congress Jaiprakash Gupta too arrived at the spot and directed the youths to get down from the tower. The youths however did not respond to Gupta’s direction and demanded that EGS minister Raut should come to spot and started shouting slogans to demand immediate end to stalemate over construction of Ram Jhula and other RoBs whose work is going at agonising slow pace in the region.
When word reached Dr Raut he reached the spot at 5 pm. On direction of the Maharashtra Minister the two youths got down from the tower reliving the tense atmosphere at the spot. GRP and RPF staff quickly whisked away the youths for questioning.

Sources claimed that Dr. Raut rapped the youths for putting their life in danger and told the two that the Ram Jhula project would not get completed by such agitation.
Police Inspector of GRP Chandrashekhar Bhabal said that cops recorded statement of youths. As they did not had intention of suicide no offence was registered against them.

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha

It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza. Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined. However, now with the construction of the new bridge tourists will get a chance see the scenic backwaters across the river bed which is
