DBA president thrashes on-duty cop in Nyay Mandir

Riot like situation prevailed at Nyay Mandir after District Bar Association (DBA) President Adv Sudip Jaiswal thrashed an on duty police constable over his alleged misbehaviour with a lady lawyer in Nyay Mandir premises.Later, war of words hot up between lawyers and police officers, leading to Rasta Roko and trading of charges against each other.
While the lawyers have squarely blamed police for provocation and ill-treatment, police officers strongly refuted the charge and produced CCTV footage clearly showing unprovoked attack on police constable by lawyers who pounced upon him.

Amidst claims and counter-claims, the District Bar Association has decided to go on indefinite strike from Monday demanding stern action against erring police personnel. According to DBA, their proposed stir has been supported by HCBA, Vidarbha Lady Lawyers Association, executive members of Bar Council and Adhivakta Parishad denouncing police for granting humiliating treatment to advocates in the name of security.
Adv Yogita Choudhary, victim of the incidence said that she was entering the Court premises on mobike of a friend at 12.30 pm. Meanwhile she was talking on mobile phone in premises. On duty police constable from Sadar police station Prakash Parate asked her to give side for other vehicles and do not talk on phone.
It was at this point, the trouble began. According to Yogita, she politely told constable to mind his language. The cop on duty claimed that Yogita threatened and warned him of dire consequences.

Immediately, Yogita narrated incident to DBA President Adv Jaiswal who was in the DBA office. DBA President along with many others rushed to entry gate of Nyay Mandir and gave a dressing down to constable Parate for his alleged misbehaviour with lady lawyer, who also happens to be executive committee member. During altercation, constable claimed that DBA President slapped him and tried to hurled filthy expletives. The CCTV footage supports his version. But
Adv Jaiswal claimed that the constable misbehaved with him and tried to use police baton and to protect himself he raised hand and this CCTV footage is being misused to claim that he thrashed the cop. Demanding immediate suspension of constable, lawyers of district court led by Adv Jaiswal resorted to Rasta roko and sloganeering against city police. Traffic from Akashwani square to GPO square came to a grinding halt for around an hour.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mangaljeet Sirram and Sadar PI Rajratan Bansod with staff reached the spot to cool down the situation. But, agitating lawyers did not pay any heed to appeal made by senior police officers and continued their agitation. After sometime, DBA President and DCP Sirram held parleys right on the road to break the impasse. Lawyers demanded immediate suspension of constable Parate while DCP Sirram refused immediate action and asked them to wait till inquiry is over.

Finally, the situation was brought under control and lawyers returned back inside court premises after DCP Sirram assured that offence will be registered against constable Parate.
After the incidence, on the basis of complaint given by the Adv Yogita Choudhary, Sadar police have registered a case under sections 294 and 506 of IPC against Parate.
Police have also registered offense against Adv Sudip Jaiswal for assaulting on duty police constable under sections 353, 332, 294 and 506 of IPC. On the basis of complaint given by the second Police Inspector of Sadar police station, police have also registered a case against agitators including Advocates Sudeep Jaiswal, Atul Modi, Rajesh Ghadge, Arif Kaji, Yogita Sharma and 65 others for blocking roads under sections 341 and 143 of IPC and 135 of Bombay Police Act.

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha

The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora. It is set to open doors of development for the backward area of Kuhi and Umred tehsil. Ambhora, located 75 km from Nagpur city, is a famous religious and tourist place in Vidarbha. It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza. Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined. However, now with the construction of the new bridge tourists will get a chance see the scenic backwaters across the river bed which is
