Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Australia Can Supply Coking Coal to Indian Steel Industry on Priority

The Union Minister of Steel, Shri Beni Prasad Verma, leading a delegation to Australia for strengthening ties between the two countries in areas of mining and coal supply, met with the Australian Minister of Industry and Resources, Mr. Ian Macfarlane, in Brisbane today. He also met with the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Julie Bishop during a meeting of Australia-India Business Council. Discussions were held on forging collaborative partnerships between the two countries in the areas of mining and coal trade.  Interacting with Mr. Macfarlane, Shri Verma spoke about the potential for supply of coal to India. Cabinet approves enactment of ‘waqf properties (eviction of unauthorized occupants) bill, 2013’

The Cabinet has approved the enactment of a new Stand-alone legislation named  ‘Waqf Properties (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Bill, 2013’  moved by  Shri K. Rahman Khan, Minister of Minority Affairs.  The Sachar Committee in its report dated 17.11.2006 recommended to treat waqf as Public Premises as these properties are for the benefit of public and not for individual and encroachment on these properties to be treated as encroachment on Government Land. In view of this, the Ministry of Minority Affairs moved a proposal to the Cabinet to have a Stand-alone legislation to protect Waqf Properties from encroachments and alienation, in consultation with the Ministry of Law, and the Cabinet has approved the feasibility of such a legislation.  The new legislation when passed by the Parliament will be highly beneficial for the entire Muslim community as it will provide a perfect mechanism for protection of the waqf properties from encroachment.  It is hop...
