Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. A gang of four robbers robbed a businessman with sharp weapons and robbed him of Rs 8.5 lakh cash when he was going to deposit the money in the bank at Umred town in the district on Monday afternoon. The incident sent shock-waves across the town as the residents have demanded immediate arrest of the robbers.
According to police, Nikesh Mahesh Tolani (29) is a distributor of Hindustan Liver Ltd and supplies the products to grocery shops in the district. More than 30 employees are working in his firm who were supplying the goods to grocery shops and collecting money. The robbers were knowing that Tolani was depositing the cash in Union Bank of India’s branch everyday. They hatched the conspiracy accordingly to rob him.
On Monday at 11.30 am, Tolani came to the bank on a moped with two bags containing Rs 8,53,000/-. When he was walking towards the bank, two robbers came behind and caught hold him. Then, third robber came to the spot and tried to snatch the bags. When Tolani opposed the robbers, they attacked him with sharp weapons. He was stabbed in the stomach and head. After grabbing the bags, the robbers fled the town on Pulsar 220 motorcycle.
A police officer informed that fourth robber was waiting on the motorcycle. After leaving Umred, the goons fled towards Butibori and then Nagpur. Tolani was admitted to the hospital after the attack and his condition is reportedly stable. An offence under Sections 394 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused at Umred police station. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola said that the robbers were residents of Nagpur. “We got initial cles about the accused and our teams are working on it,” he said.
Stolen ATM found near Dhapewada
The Automated Teller Machine (ATM) that was stolen from Katol town on Sunday, was found abandoned in a nullah near Dhapewada on Monday morning, of course without the cash worth Rs 16 lakhs.
A villager noticed the machine lying in the nullah and alerted the cops. Katol police rushed to the spot and took the ATM in their possession. The machine was broken with the help of pliers, said the official.
The ATM of Bank of Maharashtra was stolen from on Saturday night. The robbers had disconnected the machine from Bank’s server at 2 am and used a Mahindra Pick up jeep to carry the machine. Rs 23 lakh were filled in the ATM on Friday. The thieves have also stolen CCTV and DVR to destroy the evidence.
After studying the modus-operendi, the police are suspecting involvement of a gang from Mewat of Haryana. The gang had targeted ATMs in neighbouring Wardha district in year 2015. The ATM was not affixed with concrete as just kept on the floor.
